His work has appeared in national magazines including US and TV Guide, Variety, Premiere, Los Angeles, Cosmopolitan, Maxim, Playboy, Emmy, the Advocate, DGA Quarterly, as well as newspapers such as the Los Angeles Times, the Dallas Morning News, the San Francisco Chronicle, and the New York Post. He’s written critically about film, television, theater, and music for a wide variety of publications, most recently for LA Weekly and the Los Angeles Times, and was co-author of the book The Paramount Story. He collaborated with Emmy Award-winning comedian Kathy Griffin on her laugh-filled and provocative memoir Official Book Club Selection, which became a #1 New York Times bestseller. Utilizing his well-honed gift for eliciting entertaining and insightful material from interviewees, Robert shaped the controversial funnywoman’s rich, humorous life—full of hard work, heartache and much-earned success—into a highly readable and thought-provoking autobiography in her distinctive voice. The book not only thrilled her legions of fans, but won over critics, with Entertainment Weekly rating it an “A” and calling it “a terrific read,” while the New York Post described the reading of it as if “Griffin is in the room with you, excitedly gesturing as she recounts a story.” Robert has appeared on “Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List” as a guest.
Robert has also worked with actress Debi Mazar and her husband Gabriele Corcos, hosts of the hit Cooking Channel series Extra Virgin, on the Tuscan-American cookbook and memoir Extra Virgin: Recipes & Love from Our Tuscan Kitchen. Robert is currently collaborating on a memoir with Pretty in Pink and Two and a Half Men star Jon Cryer.
