Christy Stillwell

Christy Stillwell received an M.A. in Literature from the University of Wyoming, where she was a Wyoming Arts Council fellow and editor of the Owen Wister Review. Her fiction has appeared in a number of literary journals and her chapbook of poetry, Amnesia, was released by Finishing Line Press.

Wonderland, Christy Stillwell’s debut novel, is rich, vivid, and consistently surprising.  Her depth of understanding of human nature and families mired in quiet expectations recalls family sagas like The Corrections and Three Junes. 

Irene Watson and her mother, Paula, have just landed in Cabo in search of Simon, brother/son who escaped three years ago and was last heard from in Baja.  Just as familial tensions on the trip are rising, Irene’s twin, Franny, arrives at the hotel with her charisma and appetite for trouble.  They pick up Simon’s path through gossiping locals, a teeming city market, and winding decrepit streets, until they find him and discover more than they ever wanted to know.  The family crisis that started in Mexico impels the three adult children to gather again later in the year for their mother Paula’s wedding where they attempt, if not to understand each other, to at last quench their insatiable hunger for love.
