Lori Gottlieb
HAPPINESS IQ (IN DEVELOPMENT)
In summer of 2011, author, journalist, therapist, and new mom Lori Gottlieb’s Atlantic cover story “How to Land Your Kid in Therapy” was the most “liked” Atlantic story to date, with 91,000 “likes” on Facebook. It remained the #1 most popular article on the Atlantic magazine’s website for two months after its publication—a first for the magazine. She promoted the story through the media, including, to name just a handful of the nearly 25 names, the Today show, NPR, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, More magazine, Psychology Today, Salon, CNN, Slate, Scientific American, and The Huffington Post. The article has been optioned for television. Her brilliance with provocative sound bites, exceptional writing, and credentials as a therapist have made her a mainstay in women’s magazines, morning television, radio, and newspapers. Gottlieb is the spokesperson for Sony’s Kobo e-reader and has been filmed for promotional ads.
Lori Gottlieb’s last book, the New York Times best-selling Marry Him, was born from an Atlantic cover article and sold foreign rights in 13 countries. It is also being developed into a reality show. Her last two cover articles for the Atlantic have resulted in the two largest circulations in the magazine’s history. Now, Gottlieb is working on a book to expand the ideas that made “How to Land Your Kid in Therapy” so popular, using her trademark balance of bringing her scientific credentials, personal experience, intellectual heft, and impeccable writing to a commercial topic.
She is also the editor of the book ToughLOVE for Free Press.
